A co-worker recently pointed me to some research that shows men will apply to a job when they meet 60% of the requirements, women won’t apply until they meeting 100%. So, I think this is another data point that backs up what you’re saying here. If you’re just regurgitating what everyone else has on their job descriptions, you’re likely building a long list of things that you don’t actually need, which will have the end result of giving you an overall smaller candidate pool.
