This is such an important topic. You say two things in here that I particularly like:

  1. The trend toward AI taking our jobs isn’t in the future, it’s happening. It’s been happening for decades. We can’t talk about joblessness or the labor participation rate without talking about automation.
  2. What the future looks like as a result of increased automation is entirely up to us. It could be a horrible world of rising income inequality, crime, and hopelessness. Or it could be a future in which we all (finally!) hand over our jobs to the machines and enjoy the free time to pursue our own interests.

Good stuff. I’m encouraged by what Venture for America is doing on this front.
