📎 Template: Value Proposition Development

Let’s just get this out of the way right up front, developing a strong value proposition is difficult. There are three good reasons for this:

  1. A strong value proposition comes from a deep customer understanding. This takes time.
  2. A value proposition comes from a differentiation strategy. Often times companies will start with a value proposition template before they’ve done the hard work of understanding where they fit into the marketplace.
  3. Your product is wonderful and complex and you want to say all the great things about it. A good value proposition only focuses on one thing. That narrow focus is painful.

But getting this right is also incredibly valuable. A value proposition is a crisp statement about how your business delivers differentiated value. With a strong value proposition, tech marketers can exponentially increase the impact of every brand interaction.

See what I did there? That’s a value proposition for a value proposition. In this post I’m going to walk you through a step-by-step process to help you develop a strong value proposition.
